There is always a ton of work that happens in the background, which is undertaken by a wonderful team of volunteers, to ensure our various speedway events can occur at Illabo Motorsport Park — especially in the lead up to our season commencement.
Facilities have to be cleaned — anyone who as attended a Speedway Event at Illabo knows about the dust… well it’s present all year round even without the vehicles stirring it up.
Vehicles need maintenance — our push cars, the recovery and first response vehicles, the water trucks, the Club Kart, the Legend Car, and even the mobility scooters all need attention.
Emergency Response Equipment (First Aid Kits, Fire Extinguishers etc) and other equipment like our walkie-talkies, the track lights and its’ controls and generator, the PA system all need to be checked to ensure they are in tip top condition.
We install various upgrades to the Spectator and Canteen Area to improve the comfort and provide great service to our drivers, pit crew, spectators — and also for our volunteers!
There’s always track maintenance occurring regularly — even in our off season — to ensure it remains in a operational condition.
Below are some highlights from the Working Bee that happened the weekend before the first event for our 2026 Season.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers that help make the events at Illabo Motorsport Park the huge success they are!
