What a weekend it was.

The Gasworks Motorsport Club recently headed off on a memorable trip to the stunning Blue Mountains region, and it’s safe to say it delivered on every front - great people, great roads, and even better experiences.

Kicking Things Off - Cootamundra

The weekend began with a relaxed meet and greet BBQ in Cootamundra at Jubilee Park. It was the perfect way to bring everyone together, catch up, and set the tone for what would become a fantastic couple of days.

With good food, good company, and plenty of anticipation for the drive ahead, it didn’t take long for the group to settle into the spirit of the trip.

On the Road - Bathurst & Mount Panorama

From there, the convoy made its way to Bathurst - a must-visit for any motorsport enthusiast.

Naturally, no stop in Bathurst is complete without a lap (or a few) of the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit. Driving this iconic track - normally reserved for racing - was a highlight for many.

The elevation changes, tight corners, and sheer history of the circuit made for an unforgettable experience.

Day Two - Zig Zag Railway Experience

After a well-earned night’s rest, the group kicked off day two with something a little different - a ride on the historic Zig Zag Railway.

This beautifully restored heritage railway offers a unique way to experience the region, winding through the landscape with classic locomotives and scenic views. It’s a brilliant reminder of Australia’s rail history and a great change of pace from the driver’s seat.

Exploring the Blue Mountains

From there, it was time to explore the natural beauty of the Blue Mountains.

A short drive and walk led the group to Katoomba Falls, where cascading water and lush surrounds made for a perfect stop.

The nearby lookouts offered sweeping views across the Jamison Valley - one of those moments where you stop, take it all in, and appreciate just how impressive the landscape really is.

The Iconic Three Sisters

The walk continued on to one of Australia’s most recognisable landmarks - the Three Sisters.

Standing proudly above the valley, the Three Sisters never disappoint. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, the scale and presence of the rock formation always leaves an impression.

It was the perfect way to round out the exploring side of the trip.

The Little Moments

Of course, it wasn’t all major landmarks. Some of the best parts of the trip were the quieter moments - checking out birds, spotting native flowers, and enjoying the walk back with good conversation and plenty of laughs.

These are the moments that really bring a trip like this together.

A Big Thank You

A huge thank you goes out to Lee and Jen for putting on a fantastic BBQ and keeping everyone well fed - those salad rolls definitely didn’t go unnoticed.

Thanks also to Lola and Jeff for coming up with the idea in the first place. Without that initial push, this weekend wouldn’t have happened.
