A Big THANK YOU to our club’s Volunteers

Illabo Motorsport Park LogoLast Saturday, November 21, 2020, we hosted the last Speedway meeting of the year at our Illabo Motorsport Park race track. and what a day it turned out to be!!!

Firstly, in terms of entrants, pit crew, volunteers and spectators it was the most successful meeting so far, despite “the warm conditions” — I think the temp gauge reached 39° at one point.

This was a combined meeting with both our regular Vintage Speedcar divisions and the new Outlaw Kart category; whose members used this event as a familiarisation/test day in order to schedule several “stand alone” Outlaw Karts & Speedway Karts Australia Association (SKAA) meetings here at Illabo next year.

The feedback after the meeting, certainly exceeded our expectations given the warm conditions with representatives from all categories participating coming up after the show to formally “THANK US & Congratulate our club on running a very professional meeting.”

So to the 31 (Yes, that’s Thirty One Volunteers it takes to put on this show and to also meet with the mandatory safety & duty of care issues in conducting such an event) of our club members who volunteered — a BIG THANK YOU… when people show their appreciation for our Volunteer efforts it certainly makes our contributions seem even more worthwhile.

It should also be noted that the success of our Speedway meetings, both in the past and to date, has a very positive impact on our local businesses with our guests utilising Accommodation Food & Beverage Fuel & other related visitor attractions.

Not to be overlooked, the success of this meeting in monetary terms has boosted our Clubs Coffers from “below the poverty line” to a very credible “Black Number” on our Bank Account. So, what a great way to end the year!

It should be noted by our club’s general membership that our only way of raising club funds is from Volunteers making the effort as club members to support our fundraising events such as this throughout the year.

With our club membership now close to 120 members on a percentage basis that identifies approx 60% of our members that could think about Volunteering at some point. So we say to those of you who have not made a volunteer contribution to our club this year to seriously consider doing so next year.

To conclude, from the Club’s Executive Committee, we once again echo our Thanks and gratitude to those of you, our Volunteers, for your efforts and contribution throughout what has been a difficult year.

Don’t forget our AGM on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Junee Ex-Services Club (10.00am) is the next event and we look forward to seeing you then.

All the Best,
The Gasworks Motorsport Committee
